Vintage Baseball Association News Article | |  | Wednesday, July 18th, 1860: Gary Shepard Tosses Whitewash Against Rochester Gary Shepard of the Cranston Yanks whitewashed the Rochester Clams 12-0 in a complete game win, limiting them to 4 hits while chalking up no strikeouts and giving up no walks.
Talking to writers after the match, his manager said, "He's got the plunk. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Gary is pretty poised out there. He knows how to throw and how to use his stuff."
In 1860 Shepard has compiled a 23-8 record with a 2.62 ERA. | |
