Vintage Baseball Association News Article | | | Saturday, August 4th, 1860: Ritter 5-6 Against Black Pirates It seemed that Cranston catcher Walt Ritter could do no wrong as the Yanks defeated the Black Pirates 15-8 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Syracuse hurlers couldn't get him out as Ritter seemed to know which pitches they were hurling.
"I think the Yanks were stealing signs." growled one unhappy Syracuse fan.
"I just felt good today. I saw the onion well and just wanted to make good contact and put the onion in play." exclaimed the jubilant Ritter in the post-match interview.
W. Ritter hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Ritter has hit at a .381 clip with 39 RBIs, 2 four basers, and 59 tallys. He has played in 49 matches. | |
