Saturday, August 11th, 1860: Pratt Rips Rochester for 5 Hits
It was great day at Pioneers Ballpark, at least for Matthew Pratt of the East Orange Pioneers. He got a lot of handshakes for his outstanding hitting against the Rochester Clams. Pratt smashed 5 hits in 7 at-bats on a his record-setting day, leading his club to a 17-5 win.

His manager said, "Matthew was hitting everything. It really was a special game for him."

On the outher sidelines the opposing manager told the newswriters, "He ambushed my boys today. Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but luckily, tomorrow is another day. Hopefully it will be our day to shine."

M. Pratt singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

In his season totals Pratt has 1 four baser and a .270 average.
