Vintage Baseball Association News Article | | | Saturday, August 18th, 1860: Ralph Eggler Suffers Injury The Syracuse Black Pirates will have to "make do" without Ralph Eggler for 2 weeks. He suffered a strained achilles tendon while running the bases in the match today against the Elizabeth Ironmakers. His club mates, understandably, were upset about losing the shortstop. "That's a real blow," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We know how to deal with adversity." Eggler will miss 2 weeks.
Thus far this year Eggler has hit .298 with 2 four basers and 36 RBIs. He has played in 56 matches and tallyed 64 times. | |
