Saturday, August 18th, 1860: Moore Smokes Black Pirates for 5 Hits, Cycle!
Charlie Moore exploded for a barrage of hits today at Elizabeth Fields. The Elizabeth catcher had a field day in the 17-16 triumph over the Syracuse Black Pirates, finishing up with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book.

"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus just to see the onion and try to get a good throw."

Well, Moore must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good hurls, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.

C. Moore hit an RBI double in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a three-run base clearer off W. Snyder in the 9th to complete the cycle.

This year Moore is batting .286 with 1 four basers and 34 RBIs. In 56 matches he has tallyed 54 times.
