Monday, August 20th, 1860: Hits Galore! Winston Drills 5 Hits!
On top of the Bridgeport hit parade today was Rube Winston. He went to the dish 7 times and tagged 5 hits, but it was Cranston that marched off with the 16-15 win. He certainly had their number at the dish in this record-making 5-7 performance, however the Yanks marked it up in the victory column.

The sweet swinging second basetender told reporters, "Each time I went to the dish, I was thinking about hitting the onionhard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."

The manager of the Ruby Legs griped to the writers, "As a team, we just didn't do it with the bats. That's why we lost."

R. Winston singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, hit a three-run base clearer off M. Peterson in the 8th and flied out in the 10th.

In 1860 in 50 matches Winston has batted at a .289 clip with 63 hits, 2 four basers, 42 RBIs, 2 walks, a .292 on-base percentage and 41 tallys.
