Saturday, August 25th, 1860: Wages Swings a Mean Bat, Slaps 5 Hits
What a day for Happy Wages of the Rochester Clams! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen everyday! He ripped Cranston pitching apart at Ballpark of Rochester and sparked the Clams to a 15-14 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing up his special day 5-7.

"I'm usually a first ball striker," Wages told the newswriters in the post-match interview. "I think hurlers think strikers are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Hurlers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."

H. Wages grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, doubled in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off C. Orth in the 10th.

This year Wages is batting .301 with 71 hits, 7 two basers, 2 three basers and 3 four basers. He has no stolen bases, 41 tallys, and 21 RBI.
