He was the top pitcher this season, according to the Writers Association voters. Chris Eyre was just a notch or two above his pitching peers this year and has been honored with the 1860 VBA Amatuer League Outstanding Hurler Award.

During his remarkable year Eyre posted a 21 and 10 record in 34 starts. In 269.1 innings he yielded 344 hits and 2 walks while striking out 28 and compiling a fine 2.24 ERA.

For his fine season the Writers Association will present him his trophy this weekend at its annual awards dinner.
Sunday, July 15th, 1860: Top Fielders Honored by VBA Amatuer League
Defense is a critical element in the match of baseball. Many times late in the match, a light-hitting defensive specialist will be inserted in place of an artist striker.

Good defenders are worth their weight in gold and today at the annual Writers Association awards banquet the best of them will be recognized. These quiet heroes will be honored with the 1860 VBA Amatuer League Outstanding Fielder Award.
