"Words can't express how it feels right now," Jumbo Turek said today after being named the 1860 Outstanding Striker Award recipient. "It's an honor to be named among the other great ballists that have won this award."
Turek smacked opposing hurlers around for a .437 average and .438 on-base percentage this year, tallying up 14 two basers, 5 three basers, 4 four basers, 53 RBIs and 75 tallys.
He will be honored by the Writers Association at its annual awards dinner this weekend.

 | Friday, July 6th, 1860: Torreiro Top Choice, Wins Outstanding Hurler Award
This weekend all of the artists of the 1860 season will be honored at the Writers Association annual awards banquet. Harrisburg's superb hurler, Juan Torreiro, will be there to receive his trophy for the VBA Youth League Outstanding Hurler Award.
He was the league's premier hurler this past season with a 10-4 mark. He started 21 matches, hurled 127.2 innings, fanned 29 strikeouts and crafted a 2.68 ERA. The 17-year-old held opponents to a .279 average and issued 4 walks.
