Saturday, September 29th, 1860: ABA's Premier Striker, Southall of Barre
The Amatuer Baseball Association has made it official -- Jeremy Southall is the winner of the Outstanding Striker Award. In the 1860 season, the Barre right fielder was sensational with a .273 average, 10 two basers, 16 three basers, 6 four basers and 69 RBIs. Southall also had 13 walks, posted a .296 on-base percentage and tallyed 70 times.

This weekend the Writers Association will present the trophy to Southall for being the ABA's top-rated striker. He will receive it at the association's annual awards dinner.
Friday, September 14th, 1860: Barre Tops Celoron for ABA Title
It was a storybook year for the Barre Woodchoppers as they closed out a 3-2 series win over the Celoron Orioles to claim the 1860 Amatuer Championships. They wrapped it up with a 11-1 victory to cap an incredible season and brought home their 1st championship.

The Woodchoppers manager gave his view of the series, "We had a lot of things going for us, offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes win a Amatuer Championships."

"We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year," said the Orioles manager. "They played better baseball than us and they beat us."

During the regular season Barre put up a 41-23 record and finished second.
Saturday, September 1st, 1860: August's Premier ABA Newcomer Named
It was an trophy-winning month for Doc Rondon of the Barre Woodchoppers. He started 11 matches and came away with 9 wins and the Amatuer Baseball Association Newcomer of the Month award.

In August, this is what his worksheet looked like:

11 GS, 9-2 record, 100.1 IP, 77 HA, 3 BB, 18 K, 1.35 ERA, .194 OBA.

Thus far this season Rondon has posted a 10-3 record, started 13 matches, struck out 23 strikers in 123 innings and compiled a 1.61 ERA.
