Wednesday, August 1st, 1860: White Plains Starting Pitcher July's #1 Newcomer
Gordon Chidester was awarded July's Newcomer of the Month trophy by Amatuer Baseball Association officials today.

The pitcher for White Plains registered a 1.35 ERA in 15 starts, logging a 13-2 record and 25 strikeouts in 133 innings.

His record this year is 23-14 in 38 starts and Chidester has a 1.56 ERA.

Wednesday, August 1st, 1860: July's Top Hurler is Chidester
Gordon Chidester hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Amatuer Baseball Association Hurler of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his over the past thirty days, you're going to get some notice.

In July the White Plains hurler earned a 13-2 mark in 15 starts. He threw 133 innings, struck out 25 and compiled a solid 1.35 ERA.

Chidester has made 38 starts this season, posting 23 wins and 14 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .212 against him and he has 57 strikeouts in 323 innings with a 1.56 ERA.
