Sunday, July 29th, 1860: Smalley Spins Magic, Holds Athletics Spellbound
In an impressive outing, Adam Smalley whitewashed the Brentwood Athletics 18-0.

"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Smalley, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.

"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."

The Celoron hurler whitewashed Brentwood, allowed 5 hits, chalked up 4 strikeouts and yielded no walks.

In 41 starts this season, Smalley has recorded 26 wins and absorbed 10 losses. He has pitched 345 innings, allowed 284 hits, struck out 76 and has a 1.36 ERA.
Thursday, July 19th, 1860: Roach Hurt, Out of Lineup 8 Weeks
Dealing with injuries is part of the match, and now Paul Roach of the Athletics knows this firsthand. He was injured against the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Spiders while throwing the ball. Diagnosed as a herniated disc (back), the Brentwood right fielder is expected to miss 8 weeks. Roach was a little upset, but understands it comes with the territory. "There is nothing I can do now. You try to be careful, but no matter how careful you are, injuries happen. Lucky for me, it isn't too serious and I won't miss many matches."

This year Roach is batting at a .213 clip with 1 four basers and 24 RBIs. He has played in 38 matches and tallyed 26 times.
Saturday, June 30th, 1860: Chidester Hurls White Plains to Whitewash Victory
Gordon Chidester put a hex on Brentwood in a sparkling 4-0 whitewash performance, mesmerizing them on a 5-hit gem.

"I feel good physically," he said. "Everything's comfortable. You should throw well when that's the case."

It was anything but comfortable for Brentwood.

"Chidester used his changeup very well, very effectively," the opposing manager said. "He threw it in striker's counts."

The White Plains Red Caps hurler fanned 2 and walked 1.

To date this year, Chidester shows a 10-12 record, 23 starts, 190 innings, 32 strikeouts and a 1.71 ERA.
