I hope to provide accurate statistical data for
those interested in the scale issue. It is not an exhaustive list but
will be added to when I get a new car or have a car in front of me.
Some people don't care about scale and that is their
privilege, but I do and that is mine. How much do I care. I
call my VMG cars my 1/28th scale collection. I still own a few, but
would never display them with my 1/32 cars and probably never buy another. This page is only for
those who care about scale so that they can buy wisely.
The hope is to make an ongoing list that is easy to
update. The organization principle is done
duberically.

REVISION &
Miscellaneous Rantings
If I find the measurements are wrong I will revise what I
said. In fact I may revise anything on the page including my name
which for some reason causes the freshmen I teach to giggle. Such is
life. BTW, this page will be updated when I feel like it, so no requests for
something you can do yourself Mr. send me an anonymous email under a fake
name.
COMMENTS:
1. MEASURING: Track is the measurement between
the middle of a tire to the middle of the tire on the opposite side of the
car. The
easiest way to measure it is to start from the outside edge on one tire to
the inside edge of the opposite tire. It is easier to find the edge
than the center of the tire, at least with my eyesight.
2. REGIONAL DISTINCTIVES: A tire =
a tyre = a tar = uh tuh
3. RATINGS: Are based on the wheelbase as the
track can be adjusted to bring a car into line. PEOPLE CAN HAVE
DIFFERING RATING SCALES BUT THIS ONE IS MINE
a. Excellent = < 3% error
b. Good = 3-6% error
c. Acceptable = 7-10% Error
d. The VMG award = > 10% (10% is between 1/4
and 3/8 of an inch too long on most cars).
4. Click on the name of the car for further
material.
FOOTNOTES
1It ran in multiple
configurations and to give Cartrix the benefit of the doubt I will claim
this is modelled after the 92" wheelbase version.
