THE SECRET SOURCE

This is a form of dumpster diving.  Dead appliances, electronic equipment, computers and junk in general are my secret source for parts.  When something dies I tear it apart and scavenge all the parts that are usable.  I have gotten the following
1.    Motors from razors, cameras, disk drives, cassette players, etc.  I got one Mabuchi FK-130 motor which is the Falcon/TSRF motor.  I have over twenty motors that will work on the Slot Car Heroes chassis.  Some CD drives have up to three motors in them that are usable.

2.    Polished steel 1/32 axles from 3.5 inch floppy drives.  Not all drives have them, but some have one axle and some have two.  These are the rods drive mechanism slides on.  They are very true and super smooth. Don't expect every drive to have this size, but many do.  The school down the street saves all the removable media drives for me and 90% of the time I get something usable.

3.    Screws, leds, and wire from everything under the sun.

4.    Very strong and durable plastic from some computer cases.  This stuff is of much better quality than most of the hobby store plastic.  A Packard Bell computer I did in had this decorative plastic trim that when removed looked like guard rails.

5.    Small switches are in some gadgets and can be adapted to run track accesories.
