My Workshop

My workshop is a small utility room that is connected to a side entrance of the house through a small entry way.

 ROOM ONE

WALL ONE

As you enter the work shop through the house you almost run into my oscillating spindle sander.  This is used for two things, a convenient table and as a sander.  To the left of it is a stack of wood and materials.

WALL TWO

As you look at the wall there is a closet with no door.  Most of it is filled with junk but the middle two shelves are for shelf queens.  Anyone who runs a shelf queen of mine is never invited back. Friends don't touch a friend's shelf queen!

To the left of the closet is my test track, with electronic timing using Trakmate, and of course what infield would be complete without a scroll saw in the middle. This track is a quick and dirty way to test a change.

Above the track is a display shelf.  The picture is of the Herriott Trucking Special.  I used to work for Herriott Trucking.  This was the car in which Jerry Unser was killed.  Kenny Herriott, the car owner, never got over it and had a huge picture in his main office in memory of Jerry.  Jerry was Bobby and Al's older brother.  There are no cars on the shelf as they get too dirty. The wood to the left for making bodies.

Under the track is a set of drawers that I use to store cars and bodies.  These are cars I run, but not this week.  The bodies are ones I am building from scratch on or in the case of the vacs ones I will work on someday.

To the left of the track is a chest of small drawers from a jewelry store.  Those are all FF-130SH motors.

The next drawer has miscellaneous motors in it.  I have another box with Falcons, TSRF, MRRC, etc. motors.

Another drawer is dedicated to brass plate and tubing. These are only the small pieces. The large pieces are tucked away behind a workbench..

To the left of the chest of drawers is a band saw that is causing me trouble and needs some parts replaced, but it was given to me and how could I say no when the parts are less than $25.

On top the chest is a Dremel drill press with a Proxxon two directional sliding table. Cool Gadget if I say so myself.  It lets you drill holes very accurately and mill plastic or wood.

WALL THREE

The third wall of the room has a workbench with this mail sorting thing I got from a school post office.  It has all these neat cubby holes.  The white boxes are current projects like a drawer with IRL parts.

The stuff goes all the way to the ceiling.  Why waste space when you have none?

Underneath are more drawers.  These ones hold tools, metal rods, plastic sheet, and specialty woods. The green cabinet peeking out on the right side is full of model kits. The red thing is a Red Devil Vacuum cleaner.  Being a real man this is hardly ever used.

WALL FOUR

Another workbench and more shelving.  This is where I make bodies and timing tracks. The drawers underneath are stuff with seldom used gadgets and things. That blue-green thing is a high powered grinder. See I told you I was a real man - I don't know the name of the color.

Above the work area is a small shelf that runs along the ceiling.  It is lined with laptops.  I got thirteen of them for $50.00.  I use them to make timing devices for my track and for other people.

ROOM TWO

This is not a room, but an entrance to the back side of the house.  I built a small work bench and the have storage shelves and cabinets everywhere.  This is the skunk works where all the secret stuff is worked on.  The central feature of the room is the Foyt Wheaties box.  To me Foyt was the greatest driver of his era.  My opinion plain and simple. If you have another that is OK as I can tolerate people who are wrong and even like them except the ***** fans as they are just plain evil.

CONCLUSION

Why in the world did I post this page? Because I am a great humanitarian! You guys can now come to this page and show your wives.  All you then say is, "Look, I am not as bad as Dan."  She says, "Oh baby you are wonderful.  I am so glad I am not married to someone as awful as that Dan."  Now if your workshop is worse than this you need to go to confession tomorrow.
