Adhesives I Use
by Daniel J. Dyke

A.    CA Glue = Cyanoacrylate.  CA glue is a reactive monomer.  For technical information about how it works go to composite.about.com for an explanation.  What you need to know is it works in bonding plastics and metals to each other.

A small amount can be place on the tip of an axle and the wheel press on.  If the hole has enlarged by misuse or wear and tear then use more glue and hold the wheel in place for about 30 seconds.

B.    Gorilla Glue.  It claims to be the toughest glue on the planet.  This is an exaggeration, but it is one tough glue.  I use it for wood to wood applications in scenery making or on popsicle stick cars.  It is slow drying compared to CA glue and works best if the two pieces of wood can be clamped together and left until totally dry.  Warning: it is an expanding polyurethane glue that fills the space available and if it leaks out from between the edges of the wood it will expand to four times its original size.  It can be carved and sanded.  A good resource page is the FAQ page by the manufacturer.

C.    Wood Glue.  Elmer's glue for wood.
