Samurai Sword Stand

Here's an item I had a lot of fun with. This was made from the scrap pile and the firewood pile. The cormorant design was inspired by the grain of the neck/body piece which was found in the scrap pile and then I remembered a walnut crotch out in the log pile. Many coats of tung oil brought out the really nice cascading flowers in the wings. As you can imagine, these photos don't even come close to showing the true beauty of these particular pieces of wood.
