We took a car ferry across the Labrador Strait. Although the "voyage" took less than two hours, it was a highlight of the trip, because of the decayed elegance of the old ship Apollo, which had been put out to pasture on this short run. There were decks of cabins and empty lounges to explore, and nautical equipment to marvel at, poutine to snack on and coffee to slurp.

Quick sights along the coast on the only paved road, which actually goes nowhere. The only way out of here is by air or sea.

The tidy, beautifully located town of Red Bay sits at the north end of the paved road. From here the gravel goes on another few hundred kilometers before running out at Cartwright.
