Sunday
A special day was planned for our Veterans form the Cincinnati VA Hospital. Brother Knight Anthony Roark, our VA Chairman, started plans for this special outing in late July. He made all the necessary preliminary arrangements to have the Veterans come out for this event through the VA Administration, then he set the date for Saturday, October 1, 2011 to come to Harrison Council #2633 for a fresh fried chicken dinner with crisp fried potatoes prepared by Brother Knight Martin Eckstein. Other Brother Knights and members of our K of C Ladies Club prepared the side dishes and desserts for the meal. This event was publicized in our council's newsletters for August, September, and October 2011.

The VA bus arrived at 10:15 a.m. with 15 veterans, 1 member from VA Administration, and the bus driver for this event. The weather was cold, windy and some intermittent rain. Due to the inclement weather no one played horseshoes, two played cornhole and the rest stayed inside intermingling with the Knights and Ladies or playing the card game "Spades" or enjoying the guitar music provided by Brother Knight Frank Cranert's brother Ramone.

Dinner was served at noon to the supreme delight of all seventeen guests, six Brother Knights and four ladies. After dinner, the left overs were packaged up for the veterans to take with them. Due to the bad weather, the entire event was moved indoors. The Veterans expressed their gratitude to their host and boarded their bus at 2:15 p.m. for their return trip to the VA Hospital.
