JV Regional at Town & Country

The Brossart JV defeated Pendleton County 4-1 in the first round of the JV regional tournament at the Town & Country Sports Complex Saturday.

Second Round JV Regional
Brossart JV eliminated in shootout

In a defensive struggle, the Mustangs were down 1-0 in the first half but were determined not to let this one get away.  In the second half, Adam Lubbers played a thru ball to Ryan Enzweiler who streaked down the right side and sent a cross to Dylan Dierig, who headed in the tying goal.  The Mustang defense continued to deny the Camel attackers, and the midfield war was being won.  But time expired, sending the game to a shootout.  The Camel keeper was able to deny two shots, and Campbell County went on to a win, and advanced in the regional 2-1.

Sat. 9/8
Mustang JV go 1 - 1, take second at Meade Co.

The first game vs South Oldham got off to a quick start with an apparent goal by Craig Todd in the first two minutes, but a bad hop caused an inadvertent handball, nullifying the goal.  The game took a turn at that point, with Brossart playing mostly defense the rest of the half, and Griffin Ross seeing plenty of action around the net with several saves.  Halftime score  0-0.
In the second half, the Mustangs stepped up and won more balls, played more offense, and chipped away deep into South Oldham territory.  It was with 10:00 minutes left that a shot from the right side by Ryan Enzweiler crossed out in front of a diving S. Oldham keeper that resulted in a frantic scramble in front of the net.  A little ping-pong ensued until Jared Smith stepped in and finished things with a blast into the net the lead for Brossart.  The defense held on for the win 1-0, and Brossart advanced to the championship game.

Championship game vs Trinity
A match of soccer titans did not go in our favor, as Trinity took an early lead and eventually sent the Brossart JV to their first defeat of the '07 season, winning the game 5-0.  Plenty of action for the entire JV roster in this one, and hopefully something to build on.  Next game Tuesday 9/11 vs Scott away.

Thurs. Sept. 6

Mustang JV handle Highlands

The early game Thursday at Pendery featured the Brossart JV versus Highlands.  The match-up saw early goals in each half for the home team, beginning with a goal by Brian Wolfer early in the first half to grab the lead for the Mustangs.  At the half, the score remained 1-0 Brossart.  The start of the second half saw the men in green take early advantage of an offensive push, with Justin Britton scoring to give the Mustangs the final margin of victory 2-0.  The defense took over from there and Griffin Ross kept the Bluebirds off the board to record the shut-out.  Next game Saturday at Meade County Invitational 10:30 AM vs South Oldham.

Mustang JV outlast NCC

An evenly played first half kept both teams off the board and the half ended tied 0-0.  At about ten minutes into the second half, NewCath penetrated the defense, and off a first shot stop, found a loose ball at close range and deposited a shot into the Brossart net for the 1-0 lead.  The Mustang JV then elevated their game to win several challenges and apply steady offensive pressure on NCC.  The efforts finally paid off when Michael Leibel launched a shot that the NewCath goalie couldn't quite handle, knotting the score at 1 - 1.  The Mustang defense continued to do their job, and midfielders Mefford, Sanker, Lubbers, Braun, Perkins, etc. fed the offensive front including Wolfer, Todd, Dierig and Enzweiler, resulting in multiple scoring chances down the stretch.  With about five minutes left, following a rocket that the NCC keeper batted down, Ryan Enzweiler nailed the rebound to grab the lead, and the win.  BBHS 2 - NCC 1.  Next game at home Thurs. 9/6 vs Highlands.
