of last century 1900 silk velvet bedspread with fringe
This is called a string or yarn hair , composition Anne Shirley doll
made during the war. She is in amazing condition in her original
dress, head to toe original , including her original shoes. She
is really a beauty, the yarn was
used during the war , because product mohair or human hair was
impossible to find. The Effanbee company made these dolls for a
brief time, I think it was only one year or two most. Its a rare
fine and in this condition! Most dolls the hair is found out of
set. These one is so beautiful, and so very hard for me to part
with her, she has clear eyes, nice complexion, bright cheek color
. As you can see , her marabou cape is
monogrammed, a beautiful orchid adorns her cape. Anne
Shirley was a child actress
of the time and quite popular right up there with Shirley Temple.
This doll would be called a celebrity doll, for those that collect
them. She is an amazing doll by all standards. Super
clean unusual and rare hair, a pleasure to have. $1495
This sweetheart is another yarn hair composition Anne Shirley
doll made during the war when materials were scarce. See above
for details. She was found with her original Christmas tag still
attached for the child that was to get her. She came from that
family. She has a black velvet hooded cape, lined in red,
not pictured, that I do have for her, that bled slight onto her
dress. The dress is white with metallic spots, decorating it, all
original doll head to toe. She even still has her metallic ribbon
ties in her hair. Also those same bows decorate her dress ,
they just don't show in the picture. She has slightest crazing
nothing major and I have had her for years and years and she has stayed
in this condition. She is really a beauty wit those amber eyes.
Look at her hair, I am so amazed that a doll can survive time and end
up looking like store stock almost. I have seen this doll before
in very bad condition. Anne Shirley dolls were well loved
dolls. The child that had this doll must have sat her on a shelf
and looked at her. She is undamaged no tears or
holes. A picture perfect doll!!! $995
