Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are some of the museum's best treasures! Our current openings include:

Docents:  The Museum is in need of volunteers who are willing to share the richness of Butler County's past by becoming museum tour guides.  These guides showcase the treasures of the Benninghofen House to visitors from near and far. Training is provided and volunteers commit to volunteering one afternoon each month.

Collections Catalogers: For those with an interest in material culture, here's your chance to experience the artifacts up close! Become a part of the team that is helping to develop the computer database for the museum's collection. The Museum is in need of volunteers to complete descriptive information on artifacts using forms (no computer experience necessary!), and volunteers to enter data using SNAP software (computer experience needed, but training available for using this database).

Garden Maintenance: If you have a love of gardening, help is always needed in maintaining the flowers and shrubs around the Benninghofen House.

Volunteer Appraiser:  An appraisal of donations is often requested by a donor for tax purposes.  If you are a qualified appraiser, we could use you "on call" for this purpose.

CPA Auditor:  A person experienced in auditing corporate books is needed to do annual audits for BCHS.  Call our Director/Curator at 896-9930 for details.

Contact  the museum's director and curator, at the Butler County Historical Society if you can assist in any way.  We can be reached via email at bcomuseum@fuse.net or by phone at (513) 896-9930.
