| I live and work in neighborhoods that have origins dating back to the late eighteenth century. They are not far apart with a "young" neighborhood sorta in between that only got it's start in the mid nineteenth century. Punks. These neighborhoods had their heyday in the late nineteenth century and were pretty much just going on momentum thru the first half of the twentieth century. After World War II, the government built the interstate highways for national security reasons & the citizens used them as a getaway to the brand spanking new suburbs. I used to drive to work but several years ago I started riding a bike or taking a bus. I started to actually see the stuff that I drove by for years. I liked what I saw, so I got out the camera and started taking pictures. The city is Cincinnati. The neighborhoods are Northside, Over-The-Rhine and Clifton. Brighton kinda sits off to the side, across the "Rhine" from Over-The-Rhine. The Rhine being a street that was at one time a canal. The pictures are in no particular order. Depending on the weather I take different routes. |
