The Forest-Aires
This community chorus is about 35 women singing in three parts with accompaniment and light choreography. Members usually come from western Clermont County and eastern Hamilton County.
We prepare two types of music each year: For our May performance, Encore!, we prepare a wide variety of songs, drawn from a variety of eras and styles. Each of our two acts has a theme. Sometimes we have opportunities to reprise portions of Encore! during the summer, such as at Tall Stacks and the Clermont County Fair. Each December, we prepare a 45-minute Christmas concert. Christmas performances take place at area churches, senior centers, civic groups, etc.
The Forest-Aires' purpose is to enjoy choral singing, share our enjoyment of music with our audiences, and pass on an appreciation of vocal music to the next generation.
To achieve the third part of our purpose, the Forest-Aires has a system of earning money through performing and using proceeds to fund voice lessons for high school students in suburban districts represented by Forest-Aires members. Students audition for us in the fall, and audition winners receive funding for private voice lessons to be taken during the school year. An important part of the prize is that they get to perform solos in our spring concert, called Encore!, at Anderson High School.
To date, 171 high school students have taken voice lessons and enjoyed a featured solo performance because of this Forest-Aires scholarship program.
