Durand Brown

Retired Contractor Dies At Home

Durand Brown, 67, died at Tuesday night at 7:15 o'clock at his home on South Main Street, in Versailles.

Born April 14, 1879 in Anderson county, he was the son of the late Samuel and Nancy Brown. At an early age he moved with his parents to Woodford county, where he has since resided. Mr. Brown was a retired building contractor and a member of the Versailles Baptist church and the Junior Order, U. A. M. He was first married to Miss Kitty Collins who died many years ago. His second wife was Miss Fannie Stokely, who survives him.

Other survivors are five daughters, Mrs. George W. Shelton, Lexington; Mrs. Jess Curry, Mrs. Raymond Cox, Mrs. Mennon Sanders and Miss Edith Brown, all of Versailles; one son, William Durand Brown of Versailles; three sisters, Mrs. Levi Henderson and Mrs. Samuel P. Dozier Sr., of Versailles and Mrs. Grant Kennedy of Frankfort; one brother, Abe Brown of Versailles, three granddaughters, four grandsons and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Versailles Baptist church ??????? Dan Thomas, pastor ????? Creek Baptist church ?????
