The Family of William T. Saunders (son of Ackley and Mary Saunders) William T. (ca. 1820 - 1849) m Mary Ann Saunders (1819 - ?) Children born to this marriage were: Worthy S. (02 Jun 1841 - 29 Nov 1928) William Presley (1845 - ?) Worthy married Mary Rachel Jenkins, and William married Jennie Claude (unknown last name). William T. and Mary Ann married in 1839 in Fleming County, Kentucky and initially resided in Sherburne, Fleming County, Kentucky, a small town on the Licking River. William T. died shortly after his sons were born. No death record exists as of this writing, but an 1852 Fleming County Circuit Court docket entry lists William T. as deceased. The Fleming County tax records continually show entries relating to William T. until 1849 when he is no longer entered. William T. and his brother, Charles, were business partners and throughout the Fleming County, Kentucky, tax records they are listed as being in business with each other. William T. Saunders was not financially secure and the Fleming County Clerk of Court records shows the following agreement: 10 July, 1843. We do hereby lease or rent unto William T. Sanders for 2 years the following property for sum $10.00, 1 wagon, 1 brown horse, 1 black mare, 3 pair gears, 1 mantle clock, 1 bureau, 1 set chairs, 2 dressing glasses, 1 shovel and tongs, 1 bucket, pans, 4 pieces of pot metal. signed: William G. Saunders After William T.'s death, Mary Ann and her sons, Worthy and William P., moved from Sherburne to Flemingsburg, Fleming County, Kentucky, and lived next door to Charles and Elizabeth Saunders: William T.'s brother. On November 11, 1850 Mary Ann married Cummins Brown, a local businessman in Fleming County. The family moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa where Mr. Brown died. Mary Ann later married William Toole. They moved to California in later years and it is presumed she died there.
