Jennings Brown, 78,

retired builder, dies

Jennings Clay Brown, a widely respected, retired Versailles building contractor, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at his residence, 117 Old Hickory Lane. (View Map) He was 78.

Mr. Brown was a native of Woodford County, a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Blackburn Brown, and two sisters, Miss Irene Brown and Miss Leonie Brown, both of Versailles.

Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Blackburn Funeral Home by the Rev. Orin Simmerman and the Rev. Henry Johns.

Active casket bearers will be Wendell Grayson, L. D. Sweazy, Ray Tucker, Dr. Olson Parrott, Claude Shrout, and Tevis Blackburn. Honorary bearers will be members of the Versailles United Methodist Men.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Versailles United Methodist Church.
