The demise of paper books has long been predicted. You can file those rumors with "paperless office" and "cashless society". But for those of us who are avid readers, with overflowing bookshelves and grocery bags full of already read paperbacks, the promise of a single device to replace many of them has a lot of appeal.
The Kindle, with any one of over 100,000 books available within a couple of minutes, has the potential to change the way we look at reading. Imagine having your morning paper waiting for you on your nightstand when you wake up in the morning. Or Time magazine, without the ads, magically appearing in your briefcase or purse when you sit down in the bus. Or being able to listen to any one of thousands of audio books while sitting in traffic.
Kindle uses Sprint's wireless network to retrieve everything from newspapers to blogs to magazines to the books on the New York Times Bestseller List in seconds. Friends and co-workers can email files directly to your Kindle for you to review and respond to at your leisure. If you need to do some quick research while away from your computer, a basic web browser is included, the New Oxford American Dictionary is built right in and Wikipedia is always just a click away.
