Last Will and Testament of James Saunders (Son of William Saunders) April 10, 1778, Loudoun County., Virginia (Willbook B, Loudoun Co., Va) In the name of God, Amen, the tenth day of April, 1778, I James Sanders of Loudoun County, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God; Therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament; that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor; nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God, and as to what worldly Estate whenever it has pleased God of his bounty to bless me in this life, I give, demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, First I leave Sarah my dearly beloved Wife in full possession of my whole Estate real and personal during her life after which my son Gunnel shall receive of my Executor's bed and furniture and twenty pound in money and my son James twenty pounds and my daughter Barbera twenty pounds and my nephew Henry Sanders twenty pounds if he lives to the age of twenty one years. The remainder to be equally divided between my other sons viz John, Presley, Henry, Moses, Aaron, and Cyrus. I mean my whole estate including the lease on W. Mason's land wherein I now live and my land lately in North Carolina. For the true performance of which I do constitute make and ordain. Sarah Sanders, my dearly beloved wife and John Sanders and Aaron Sanders my faithful trusty sons Executor to this my Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former Testament Wills and Bequests and Executors by me in any ways before named. Willed and Bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and Year above written, signed seal pronounced and declared by said James Sanders his last Will and Testament in the presence of us.
