Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co.

William L. Land was born in 1854, the second son of Fountain Land. He was married to Miss Maggie Mathews, daughter of William H. Mathews, of Jessamine County in 1878.

He has been a farmer all his life in Jessamine County.

William L. has four children: Mary, William F., LeRoy and Sarah.

His father was owner of many slaves before the war; has amassed his wealth by his own industry, and owns a large body of land, the best in the county, containing 1,400 acres.
