NOTES FROM THE BOARD

The church board met on May 11.  Reports were read from the Cabinet Committees.  The Education Committee is working on Summer Sunday School and looking for teachers.  They are also working on Vacation Bible School which will be held the week of July 28th thru August 1.  Help is needed for this event.  The Evangelism Committee helped with the Easter breakfast & continues to make contact with frequent visitors to ECC.   The Membership Committee had a continental breakfast for mothers on May 11 and will be working on a similar event for Father’s Day (June 15).  The resignation of Stacey Bowman as Youth Minister was discussed and a decision made to hold off on hiring a new Youth Minister until the end of the year.  The participation of our youth in the “Sticker Shock” campaign by the Kenton County Alliance was discussed and information was received to explain what the youth would be doing in this campaign.  Ival Acra presented several Stewardship recommendations to the board to help in our current financial situation.         Roberta Plummer, Board Chairman

Phone Service:  Signing a revised 3-year contract with Cincinnati Bell for all phone service will result in an approximate annual savings of $1100.  This contract has been signed.

Youth Director:  Delay hiring of Youth Director for at least the remainder of 2008. ($8,900 savings)

Secretary:  Due to additional part time employment, Marsha is working 1 less hour at ECC. ($50 monthly)

DOORS BEING REPLACED!

A number of outside doors at ECC are being replaced (all outside doors except sanctuary entrance).  The new doors are more secure and will have a positive effect on utility bills.  The door nearest the office will provide automatic opening for handicap persons.  At the present time the ‘master’ key does not work on these doors.  When door replacement is completed new keys will be available for anyone needing them.  Funds for the new doors were provided by a special memorial gift.
