Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.s)

What types of meals do you cook?
I follow whatever requirements and desires you might have, whether that is a diet low in fat, high in protein or perhaps follows the Weight Watchers® Points® system. If you don't have a specific regimen and you just want good food, the options are nearly limitless! I'll be glad to prepare whatever you'd like, with as much variety as possible - the entrees won’t be repeated for a minimum of three months unless you request them to be.

What are your specialties?
As much as I love to cook, it's difficult to narrow it down to a specific style or cuisine that I would call a specialty. What I enjoy is making meals that are flavorful, interesting and satisfying. That is my ultimate goal, no matter what I'm creating.

Where do you make the food?
All the food is prepared at your home or apartment. Because of health department laws and insurance requirements, my service must be done on the premises of the client. This goes for parties as well. If the service is for a party that does not have an on-site kitchen or is for a special circumstance (a surprise party, for example), then the rental fee for a commercial kitchen will be added to the service fee.

How long does it take?
Each standard service takes approximately 4-6 hours, depending on the menu and amount of food.

Do I have to be home?
You don't even have to be in the city! Most personal chef clients are not at home while the chef is cooking, which makes it that much more fun for the client to come home and open that full fridge! Whenever you won't be home, simply make entry arrangements with me when we set the cooking date, making sure I have the key/code, or some other access to the kitchen.

I have pets. Is that a problem?
Pets are never a problem, provided they are kept out of the kitchen while the service is happening. This is for both sanitary and safety reasons.

What about special occasions?
Whether you're having a romantic dinner for 2, or feeding 50 in a community hall, I can help. Please see my Party Time page for more information.

Do you have gift certificates?
Yes. Gift certificates can be purchased in amounts of $50, $75 or $100 as payment towards a service, or if you know the recipient is not on a special diet, you may purchase a certificate for an entire service - 10, 20, 30 or 40 meals including containers. Each certificate has a 1-year expiration date.
