Pound Cake

One 9- and one 10-inch cake

Beat 5 min. at low speed together.

Add to butter mixture and beat 2 min.

Beat at high speed in separate bowl, with the same beater, for 2 minutes.

Sift together.

Grease the 2 pans and flour, using about ¼ c. of the flour mixture.

Beat creamed mixture 5 min. more; beat in 1/3 of flour into mixture. Add milk and beat until smooth. Add egg whites and beat until smooth. Add remaining flour. Increase speed to medium and beat 5 min. Add flavorings and beat at medium for 2 min.

Pour batter into pans and bake at 300° for 1 hr. and 15 min. or until centers spring back when lightly pressed with finger tip. Cool in pans on wire rack 10 min., invert and cool completely.
