Put all ingredients except rice in a large sauce pan and bring to a slow boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
While the milk heats parboil the rice for 2 minutes and drain. Remove peel and cinnamon stick from the milk and add the rice. Simmer partially covered, stirring occasionally, for about 1 hour until the consistency is creamy.
Pour into a serving dish and cool. Garnish with fresh fruit and serve.
