Grand Turk, BWI We jumped off from the states from Fort Lauderdale this time, and arrived in Grand Turk in the afternoon. After clearing customs and finally finding our accommodations, we met our gracious host and his lovely daughter. They gave us the complete island tour, including the markets, the better restaurants, the shopping district, the salinas, and the financial district. The remainder of that half hour, we were on our own. Below is a picture of North Creek taken from our balcony. While exploring on our golf cart (supplied with the room - one of the many perks of staying at the Island House), we stopped at one of the more popular beaches (Governor's Beach) and fought the crowds long enough to snap this picture. You never know what type of aquatic life you can find under the surface including these strange looking biped fish. We took a "resort course" for scuba diving, and ventured below the surface for the first time. We would have been a bit more nervous except for the expert instruction that we received from the staff at Oasis Divers. A special thanks to Dale, Everette, and Austin, for making the experience comfortable, fun, and unforgettable. For the many folks who have asked where the heck the Turks and Caicos are, we've pirated this map from the Island House home page so you can see. Simply click here to see a map of the Carribean showing the BWI. In October of 1999 we returned to Grand Turk. For further adventures in Grand Turk click here.
