Our Florida Keys Vacation

We first landed at Tampa FL, where we met a couple of Parrot Head friends of ours (pictured below). We then flew to Marathon Key, rented a car, and drove to Key Largo.

At Key Largo, we found a great little spot called the Largo Lodge. This is a little hidden out of the way place nestled in a wooded area with it's own little bay. There are only 4 cottages with 8 units so it maintains it's quiet peaceful atmosphere. Children are not allowed, but Manatees are welcome, and sometimes are seen coming up to the beach for a fresh lettuce snack. Pete the Egret is also a full time resident and can be seen lounging on the dock.

After a few days on Key Largo, we packed up the rental car and headed southwest for Key West. Along the way, we had to stop at Isla Morada for the ever popular Rum Runner. We found our "unique" hotel with ease and realized that it had none of the charm, peacefulness, and room of Largo Lodge. Making due with the accommodations, we headed for the pier to witness the sun setting on Key West. This picture is one of the spectacular sunsets we saw.
