The Cobra trooper called Scar-Face was first spotted
by GIJoe operatives on a mission in San Francisco. He was part of
a team fleeing the Naja Hanna Video Corporation headquarters
in a van full of stolen MX Missile guidance chips. The
van collided with a pedestrian car, and Scar Face made off with a mysterious
suitcase. He was pursued by the Joe member Clutch, who caught up
with him by the docks, and was shot by the Cobra trooper.
Scar-Face was, in fact, a courier for Dr. Venom, who procured a virus from Cobra contacts in San Francisco, and used the missile chip theft (from one of Cobra's own dummy corporation) to cover the delivery. He was sent to a Sierra Gordo Cobra base, where, under posthypnotic suggestion, he planted a micro dot which contained false information on the location of Cobra's next operation. Scar-Face was then brought to a Cobra island bunker, not for from the base, where another vial was added to the one he was carrying in his case. Once combined, they would be used by Cobra to poison humanity, and cause pandemonium to further its own ends. The bunker was ambushed by Snake-Eyes and Scar-Face escaped in a Seaplane. In a moment of insight, Scar-Face had the good insight to steal the antidote for the virus from the suitcase. The Baroness piloted the Seaplane to New York's harbor, where she switched to her private attack Jet, secreted at a nearby the harbor, allowing Scar Face to make his own return. He quickly hid the antidote in his Brooklyn hideout. When he returned to Cobra's headquarters, he was met by the Cobra Commander himself, and turned the vials over to his leader. After Destro made sure that the Joes away with the micro dot, he made plans to speak to Scar Face in secret. It was there revealed that Scar Face was actually aiding Destro, and switched the falsified micro-dot with one that contained Cobra Commander's real plans. Scar-Face then told Destro that that the Baroness, his love, was piloting the Commander's jet plane, as she always does.
This proves that Scar-Face was with Cobra long before Destro, and was privy
to such details that Destro had yet to learn. It can be inferred
that Scar-Face was either a long-term plant working for Destro from the
start, or only joined his cause after MARS entered into contract with Cobra.
With the Baroness in danger, Destro and Scar Face mounted an assault on
the Joe forces who would be there to intercept Cobra Commander's plans
in Springfield, Vermont.
The operation
was successful, but thanks to a double cross by the supposedly
dead Dr. Venom, the viral serum only killed the host,
making it incapable of being passed on to anyone else. Cobra Commander,
and the Baroness escaped right before GIJoe destroyed the base, and Scar-Face
returned to Cobra headquarters victorious. Continuing with the Plague
Toxin scheme, after Dr. Venom's return to Cobra, the entire Cobra High
Command was shipped to Washington DC by the ARBCO Bros. Circus trailers
(another of Cobra's dummy corporations). Scar-Face worried that he
was wrong in siding with Destro (proving he wasn't a plant), and tried
to strike up conversation with Major Bludd, whom he feels might be Cobra
Commander's new favorite. The major acted coldly
to Scar-Face, and stopped
any possible alliance that might have occurred then and
there.
In the United
States Treasury, Scar-face commanded the other troops in their
work, while Venom contaminated the printer's ink with
the Toxin. He was again
double crossed by Venom when the good doctor knocked
him unconscious before
fleeing the Treasury. He was awoken by the Joe
team, and fled the scene. Stealing a trenchcoat from some poor homeless
person, he bought a bus ticket back to his hideout in Coney Island.
Unfortunately, that bus was hijacked by Major Bludd, who was also trying
to flee the night attack. Bludd was apprehended by the Joe Grand
Slam, and Scar-Face continued on his way.
Taking car
service from the bus depot, Scar-Face returned to the tool shed of
the famous Cyclone roller coaster, which served as his
secret hideout many times in the past, and was also where he had hidden
the antidote. He was attacked by Destro, who deplaned on top of the
cyclone, and attacked the Cobra agent with the roller coaster cars themselves.
As Destro dealt with that hazard, the Eskimo Kwinn, and Snake-Eyes broke
into his lair, and forced the location of venom's lad from him. Instead
of killing Scar-face, Kwinn gave him the keys to a cadillac parked outside,
with which Scar-face planned to make good on his escape.
After Destro
dealt with the Joes who showed up, he pursued Scar-face in an Ice Cream
truck. he soon apprehended the courier, and together they hijacked
a
plane to Tripoli. There they were met by Venom,
who injected Scar-Face with
the Toxin. Now infected with the dormant Virus,
Scar-face overheard Cobra's
plans for him, he was to be captured by GIJoe, and infect
them all with the toxin.
En route to
Mizda from Tripoli, Scar-Face was successfully captured by the
GIJoes, and taken to Staten Island by way of submarine.
Once inside GIJoe's
underground Headquarters known as the Pitt, he revealed
Cobra's whole plan,
and handed the antidote over to Hawk. Using the
knowledge, Hawk devised a
plan to fake Scar-Face's contamination of Joe headquarters
to lure Cobra there. In an elaborate ruse to throw Cobra off the
trail, a false headquarters was erected and positioned inside the motor
pool facade that covered the Pitt. Blindfolded, Scar-face was taken
out of the Pitt, and handcuffed to the vamp along with Major Bludd.
Once the prefab fort was in place, they were brought back inside, and locked
in a small cell together with the unconscious Baroness. During the
battle a Cobra FANG landed on the roof of the prefab fort, throwing Doc's
guard off and allowing Bludd to knock him out. General Flagg then
entered the cell, holding a pistol toward Bludd. In a desperate act,
Scar-face kicked the gun out of his hand, and allowed Bludd to shoot the
General. In another, fatal, double cross, Bludd left Scar-face handcuffed
to the bars, and took the keys with him. Doc came to, and was forced
to leave the Cobra courier in the prefab when a Cobra Saboteur blew it
up. He was assumed to be very dead by all.
