DAFFRON, Henry, age 76, of Monticello, Ky. passed away Sunday, July 10,2005 at UK Medical Center, in Lexington, Ky. He was born November 10, 1928 in Monticello, Ky; the son of the late Cleve Daffron and Litha Pierce. He married Betty Doss, who survives. He is survived by one daughter-Debra Pruitt of Cincinnatti, Ohio; one son-David Daffron of New Castle, Ind. She is also survived by two sisters-Mary Carrender of New Castle, Ind., and Eleanor Denney of Cincinnatti, Ohio; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers-Roy Daffron, Claude Daffron, Howard Daffron, George Daffron, and Ray Daffron; five sisters-Louise Whalen, Dora Morgan, Bertha Crawford, Edna Brown, and Sydney. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Sam Humble officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Marvin S. DAFFRON, Virgil Sonny. age 79, of Monticello, Ky. passed away Monday, December 27, 2004 at the Wayne County Hospital.  He was born September 30, 1935 in Junction City, Ky., the son of the late Basil Duke Daffron and Bertie Mae Moore Daffron.  He married Marcia Kelsay on April 6, 1947, who survives.  He is survived by three sons-Danny Moore Daffron of Monticello, Ky.,  Stephen Denton Daffron of Bronston, Ky. and David Scott Daffron of Somerset, Ky.; one daughter-Annette Susan Tarter of Monticello, Ky.; one sister-Marjorie Dalton of Monticello, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  Preceding him in death was two siblings-Donald Moore and Betty Jewell.  He was a member of First Christian Church.  Funeral services were held Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the  funeral home chapel with Bro. DAGLEY, Junior G., 73, of Somerset passed away March 24, 2001, at the UK Medical Center. He was born in the Naomi Community, June 22, 1927, son of the late Pearl Marcum Dagley and George  Dagley. He was a retired truck driver, farmer, veteran of the US Army WW II, received Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal Japan, lifetime member of the D.V.A., and had served as trustee for the Piney Grove Baptist Church #2 Nancy. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and ex-wife Jean Weddle Dagley of Somerset. Funeral services 1:00 p.m. Tuesday March 27, 2001 at Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with the Brother Roy Allen officiating.    DALTON, Ava M., daughter of the late Bradley and Angie Nicholas Roberts, was born in Pulaski Co., KY on May 10, 1920 and departed this life on Sunday, October 16, 2005 having attained the age of 85 years. She was united in marriage to Rev. Virgil C. Dalton on May 11, 1940, he preceded her in death.  Survivors include the following; Glen (and Joyce) Dalton of Bronston, KY, Gene Dalton of Bronston, KY, Linda Casada of South Amherst, OH, Rita (and Howard) Flynn of Bronston, KY, Eunice (and Charles) Cassada of Monticello, KY, Roy (and Barbara) Dalton of LaGrange, OH, Beverly (and Justino) Rodriquez of Wellington, OH, Virgil (and Kathy) Dalton of South Amherst, OH, and Ricky Dalton of Somerset, KY.  Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren, and the following; brothers and sisters,  Rev. Russell L. Roberts of New Castle, IN, and Ray Roberts of Falls of the Rough, KY, and Janice McVey of Winnie, TX, and Faye Lee Jones of Bronston, KY.  Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by; one daughter, Donna Mathews; three brothers,  Arvey Roberts, Danny Joe Roberts, and Tarvon Roberts and; two sisters,  Taven Roberts and Shay Jean Freeman. Ava was a homemaker and a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church #2.  She was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing. DALTON, Mary - Commonwealth Journal- Mary Dalton, 86, Ridgewood Ave., Monticello, Ky., died Friday, July 21, 2006.She was born July 6, 1920, in Monticello, Ky., the daughter of the late William Graves and Mollie Cook Shearer. She was a school teacher. Survivors include a daughter, Sheri Allen; a brother, Glen Shearer; and two grandchildren, William and Mary Beth Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Dalton; her parents; a son, Bruce Allen; and three brothers, Wilson Shearer, Carl Shearer and Martin Shearer. Dalton, Mary Irene,, 80, Apache Trail, Science Hill, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. A native of Powtan, W. Va., she was born Nov. 26, 1924, daughter of the late Arthur and China Jones Harmon Sr. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Science Hill. Survivors include her husband, Lewis Dalton, whom she married Nov. 29, 1941; three sons, Bobby Dalton, Waverly, Ohio, Ronald L. (and Lois) Dalton and Garry L. Dalton, both of Science Hill; a daughter, Brenda Gail (and Bill) Shepherd, Science Hill; a brother, Arthur “Snake” Harmon, Eubank; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Timothy and Jimmy Dalton; a daughter, Wanda Sweeney; and three sisters, Alma Hayes, Rose Snyder and Gladys Anderson. DALTON, Mildred, 89, Williams Avenue, Norwood, Ohio, formerly of Somerset, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at East Galeraith Nursing Home in Cincinnati. She was born in Somerset Oct. 4, 1913, daughter of the late Rev. Millard Clayton and Mollie Gertrude Dick Loveless. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing as a hobby. She was also a member of Kenwood Baptist Church in Cincinnati. Survivors include a daughter, Diana Dalton, Norwood, Ohio; a niece, LaDonna (and Durwood) Farmer, Lawrenceburg, Ind.; a brother-in-law, James Stallard, Port Richey, Fla.; three great-nephews, Matthew and Deron Farmer and Ron Loveless; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lawrence Dalton, whom she married Jan. 11, 1931, in Norwood, Ky., and who died May 4, 1984; her parents; two brothers, M.C. and Max Loveless; two sisters, Majene Stallard and Maxine Burge; and a nephew, Kenneth Loveless. DALY, Mary Ann - STANFORD - Mary Ann Daly, 67, of Indiana, died Oct. 14 at West Central Community Hospital in Rockville, Ind.  Born July 27, 1938, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late W.D. and Maude McGuffey Mullins. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Moriah Christian Church. Survivors include her companion, Edward Daly of Indiana; two daughters, Candice Wooten of Columbia, and Kimberly Griffith of LaPorte, Ind.; two brothers, Hobert Mullins and Bill Mullins, both of Stanford; two sisters, Doris Sparks of Stanford and Hazel Brown of Danville; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Mullins. A memorial service will be 7 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home by Rob Cox. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery. DANIEL, Jennie - LIBERTY - Jennie Daniel, 93, of Liberty, died Friday at Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation, formerly Friendship House.  Born Dec. 15, 1903, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Richard and Nancy Elzada Luttrell. She was a housewife. She was preceded in death by a son, Walter Daniel.  Survivors include her husband, McKinley Daniel; four daughters, Opal Lynn of Liberty, Jewell Russell and Roxie Blake, both of Ohio, and Rose Allen of Barry; two sisters, Mary Brown of Windsor and Deliah Brown of Russell Springs; one brother, Cleo Luttrell of New York; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.  A private graveside service will be today at Glenwood Cemetery by Michael Russell. DANIELS, Scotty Wayne, age 38, of Monticello, Ky. passed away Friday, July 9, 2004 in Monticello, Ky. DANIELS, Virginia; age 68, of Monticello, Ky. passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005 at Wayne County Hospital. She was born February 23, 1936 in Wayne Co., Ky., the daughter of the late Bryant Slagle and Ruby Slagle. She married Sam Daniels. She is survived by seven children-Myrtie Russell, Billy Daniels, Ima Winchester, Thelma Jennings Hunter, Anna Catron and Virginia Lockridge, all of Monticello, Ky. and Roger Daniels of Lexington, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  She was a homemaker. DARE, Anthony John, age 45, of London, KY, passed away February 2, 2005 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born April 10, 1959 in Denver, CO, he was the beloved son of Wilbert Leland Dare and Jean Groover Dare. He was the beloved husband of Susan Yates Dare of London. He is survived by three children, Sarah Kathleen Dare, James Will Dare and Thomas Frederick Dare. Also, sisters Ellen Dare Haga of Jacksonville, FL, Amy Kathleen Hassell of Murrysville, PA, and Beth Burnadette of Chestertown, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was a 1982 graduate of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, with a BS degree in Mining Engineering. He was a Professional Engineer and a member of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration and the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He worked for various mining companies in the Southern Appalachian Coal Belt. Currently, he was a Vice President and General Manager for Bell County Coal Company, a division of the James River Coal Company. Visitation was held Feb. 4 at the London Funeral Home. The funeral mass was conducted Saturday, Feb. 5 at St. Williams Catholic Church. with Father Terrance Happenjans and Father Charles Howell. The burial was held at Calvary Cemetery in Lexington, KY.   Pallbearers include Charles Snavely, Joseph Moorman, Bob Hollies, Jimmy Charles, C.K. Lane and Joe Evans. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Coolen, Jeff Shafer, David Yates and Mark Yates. DARNELL, Mary Lindal, age 57, of East Highway 619, Russell Springs, KY, died Monday, February 21, 2005 at her home.She was the daughter of the late Les Richards and Mattie Pierce Richards of Columbia who survives.Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, Delbert Leon Darnell of Russell Springs; three sons, Delbert Leon Darnell, Jr., of Russell Springs, Darren Lester Darnell of Columbia, and David William Darnell of Somerset; three brothers, Louis Marshall Richards of Columbia, Donald Richards of Indiana, and Randy Richards of Columbia. Also surviving are eight grandchildren.She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Russell County.Graveside service was held on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Haven Hill Cemetery with Bro. Stan Milby officiating. DAUGHETERY, Troy Michael, age 58 of Oneida, Tn. passed away Friday, January 21, 2005 at the Scott County Hospital. Born January, 19 1947 in Oneida, Tn. to the Late Thomas E. Daughtery and Wilma Daughtery Potter. He was a member of the Pine Knot Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War having earned the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, outstanding trainee, and marksman award, also a member of the VFW Post #5669 in Oneida. Preceding him death was his father, one brother, Ronald Lee Daughtery and the mother of his children, Beverly Marcum. Survivors include his mother and her husband Jim Potter, two daughters, Tracy Saunders and Shanna Limburg(Steven), two brothers Dale Daughtery (Kathy), and Brian Daughtery all of Oneida, Tn., three nieces, Buffy Hord (Travis), Tonya Neal (Jamie), and Shawna Daughtery, two nephews Craig Daughtery (Angel) of Somerset, Ky., and Damran Queener, one granddaughter Presley Saunders. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 23 at 5pm. in the chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home with Brother David Hicks officiating. Graveside services were held Monday, January 24 at 11am. at the Daughtery Family cemetery in Oneida, Tn. with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post # 136 of Oneida. DAULTON, Bessie Sievers;  90, Ky. 196, Nancy, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at her residence. She was born in Nancy Oct. 27, 1911, daughter of the late Clarence and Alta Zimmerman Sievers. She was saved at the age of 15, in a revival meeting at White Oak Baptist Church, Nancy, and joined the membership of the church for 75 years. She loved going to church and was devoted to the church and    attended as long as her health permitted. She was a wonderful devoted wife and mother of 70 years. She loved her neighbors and they loved her. She loved the farm life and any work she was able to do. She was at Jack and Billy’s side wanting to help. She loved flowers and farm animals. She will be sorely       missed from her family and friends.  Survivors include her husband, Carson “Jack” Daulton, whom she married May 14, 1932, in the Oil Center community; three sons, Joseph Lee (and Tamara) Daulton, Somerset, Billy C. (and Sue) Daulton, Nancy, and Larry Dean (and Kathleen) Daulton, Nicholasville; a daughter, Bernice (and Wesley) Molen, Nancy; two half-brothers, Edgar Powell, Knoxville, Tenn., and Homer Powell, Dawson Springs, Ky.; a sister, Ada Rogers, Nancy; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three step-great-granddaughters; and a great-great-granddaughter.  She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; an infant sister; and two grandsons, Billy Wayne Daulton and  Stephen Edgar Daulton. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 2), at White Oak Baptist Church with Dr. James Floyd and Bro. Howard Prather officiating. DAULTON, Cella B., 90, Cumberland Avenue, Somerset, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. A Pulaski County native, she was born Dec. 26, 1910, daughter of the late George Mentle and Martha Harriet Mills Baker. A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, she retired from the Pulaski County School System with 42 years’ service; and was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church Survivors include two daughters, Carol Diane (and Mike) Bourne, Somerset; Kay Lynn (and Ray) Jones, Frankfort; a granddaughter, Tonya Bourne (and Joe) McKinley, Somerset; a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Jones, Raleigh, N.C.; a great-grandchild, Liam Bourne McKinley; two brothers, Cecil Baker, Nancy, and Doyle Baker, Lexington; a sister, Jewell Thornton, San Jose, Calif.; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert L. “Trix” Daulton, whom she married in October 1934; her parents; two brothers, Paul and Robert Baker; and a sister, Beatrice Prather. DAULTON, Dewey Marlow, 93; Nancy, Ky. March 21, 2002, West Ky. 80, Nancy, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at his residence. Born Nov. 3, 1908, in Nancy, he was a son of the late William      James and Mollie Jane Webb Daulton. He was a farmer and a member and deacon at White Oak Baptist Church. He liked to watch wrestling and do small engine repair. Everett L. “Shorty” Daulton, 85, Lanetown Road, Nancy, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at his residence. He was born in the Shepola community of Nancy, Dec. 21, 1917, son of the late Fielce and Effie Gover Daulton. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was sawmill owner and operator. She was well known for her gospel singing and was lead singer of Anna Lois Davis and the Davis Sisters. She sang in churches and at weddings, funerals and other gatherings throughout central Kentucky. She preferred "old-fashioned" hymns to more modern music and her rendition of "Amazing Grace" was beloved by her admirers. A community leader and advocate, Davis helped organize the annual Martin Luther King observance in Garrard County and was involved for several years with it. She organized a local program for youth, the Young People's Action Club, in which members would mow yards and clean cemeteries to make a positive impact on their community. She volunteered and helped raise money for a cancer fund drive and was historian for the Women's Missionary Auxiliary of the Mount Pleasant District Association of Missionary Baptist Church. She also had worked at the Dollar Store and the former casket factory in Lancaster. Born July 10, 1936, in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Aslee Withers and Crother Anderson. She was the stepdaughter of Anna Mae Anderson of Lancaster. Survivors include her husband, James A. DAVIS, Catherine Virginia Peavler, 75, of Stanford, died Saturday, July 29 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. A native of Garrard County, she was born Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1930 to the late Lonnie and Maude Davis Peavler. She enjoyed dancing, ceramics, and bead work, was a Baptist, and the widow of Kenneth Earl Davis. She was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel Davis. He left the service in 1946, married the former Angeline C. DeRosa in 1949 and had eight children. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary last April. Mr. Dexter died Wednesday at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash from complications of prostate cancer.  The West Chester resident was 72. A native of Logansport, Ind., Mr. Dexter became an automobile salesman and did such “a bang-up job that Cincinnati came looking for him,” his wife said.  he was recruited by Downtown Lincoln Mercury in 1953. From 1967 to 1969 he owned Frontier and Tri-County Dodge and was part of Jake Sweeney Automotive in Springdale when it was established.  he officially retired from Jake Sweeney in 1989 but continued to work at least three days a week until the week before he died.  He “kept a position because he needed that,” according to his wife. “Norm always gave 110 percent to anything he did.  It kept him involved.” Mr. Dexter continued to work even through chemotherapy.  “No one was a stranger to my Dad,” said his son, Norm Dexter Jr., who also works for Jake Sweeney. “ He would walk into a room of people and within five minutes be friends with everyone.”  Mr. Dexter was a member of Good Shepherd Church in Montgomery and St. Patrick’s Knights of Columbus in Carthage.  In addition to his wife and son, survivors include two other sons, Brock of West Chester and Mark of San Diego; five daughters, Beth Wilder of Norwood, Martha Lowe of Kenwood, Cyndy Gentile of Hamilton, Audry Cowin of Jacksonville, NC, and Diane Halterman of Muskegon, MI; a brother,.David of Logansport, Ind; 23 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  Visitation is 10:30 AM to noon Saturday at Good Shepherd Church, 8815 E. Kemper Rd, followed immediately by Mass of Christian burial. DICK, John Harden, 85 of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on March 10, 1921 in Somerset, a son of the late Dayton Tyler and Alma Easter Godby Dick. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and was a truck driver in the service and as a civilian working for the Erie Ordinance Depot where he earned the Safe Driver award 14 times in the service and as a civilian. He retired from Civil Service in 1966, when he took up farming full time. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Oak Harbor, Ohio. He enjoyed driving around taking the "scenic tour" checking on all the neighboring crops. Dick, Lloyd Ovell, 81, Cincinnati, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at his residence. He was born Aug. 5, 1922, in the Rock Lick community, son of the late Richard E. and Lola Vaught Dick. He served in World War II as a U.S. Air Force Sergeant. He was a builder and of the Protestant faith. DICK, Margaret, ... Aunt Margaret Dick, 83 years old, wife of George Dick, died at the home of her son, James Dick, at Flat Rock, 28 January 1940. She was married to George Dick shortly after the Civil War. To this union were born sixteen children, eight boys and eight girls, nine of whom are deceased; forty-seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. The surviving children are; John Dick, Marshes Siding; William Dick, Greenwood; James and Luther Dick, both of Flat Rock; Mrs. Jerry Stephens of Flat Rock, Mrs. Edgar Phillips of Marshes Siding; and Mrs. George ?? of Nevelsville; Two brothers; Mr. Joe H. Keith and Sherman Keith, both of Parkers Lake, and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Aunt Margaret was a mother to all in her community. Following her blindness and invalidism, many whom she could not visit came to her for advice. She was a Christian woman and our loss will be her eternal gain.


DICK, Nancy Jean Phelps, Bond Street, left this earthly abode for her heavenly home on Tuesday, the 16th day of August, 2005. Born in Science Hill, May 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Earl C. and Grace Edyth Cain Phelps. She was 75 years of age. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in February, 1944m and he service to the Lord continued as long as she was physically able. As a charter member of Northside Baptist Church, she served as both GA leaders and Youth Sunday School Superintendent for many years and was very active in the Women’s Missionary Union. She began her banking career at People’s Bank, Science Hill, worked there until her retirement in 1994 from what had later become First and Farmers national Bank; she served as the Science Hill Branch Manager for many years. She was a long time, hard working member of the Science Hill Garden Club and served many terms as club treasurer. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Thomas Dick, whom she married on November 10, 1950 in Science Hill; one daughter, Sonya Karen Morris, her husband, James “Chief” Morris, and a granddaughter; Amanda Karen Morris, all of Science Hill. Also, surviving are two brothers, Dale (Carol) Phelps, Tullahoma, Tennessee and David (Carolyn) Phelps, Science Hill; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Lou) Dick and Ronnie (Mary Ellen) Dick, all of Science Hill; three sisters-in-law, Glenice (Bobby) Harness, Science Hill, Bernice (Jim) Broyles, Lexington, KY, and Rissie Dick, Melbourne, FL. DICK, Porter Lee, 21 year old son of William Dick of Greenwood, was found dead near the McCreary Co. line January 31, 1940 by Felix Howard of Greenwood, who was attracted to the spot by the howling of a dog caught in a trap. Approximately thirty yards from the dog Howard found the body of Dick. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Porter left home about 8:O'Clock in the morning and his body was found at three in the afternoon. He leaves his parents, two brothers, and four sisters to mourn his loss.


DICK, Mrs. Tabitha A., 90, King Bee, died Thursday, Jan. 4, (1979) at her residence following a short illness. Born June 30, 1888, at Casey County, she was the daughter of the former Paradine Phelps and Logan Randolph, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married to Millard Filmore Dick and he preceded her in death. Survivors include five children, Robert Dick, Bethelridge, Clifford Dick, Pisgah, Ohio, Silas Dick, Milford, Ohio. Dill, Ralph, Sr., 89, of Mt. Airy, died Thursday, February 24, 2005, at his residence. Born April 26, 1915, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late General Pink and Lillie Bell Gibby Dill. He was a retired self-employed woodworker and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church, Rock Hill, South Carolina. Mr. Dill was preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors include his wife, Blondell Knight Dill, Mt. Airy; four daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Jimmy Tench, Alto, Patricia and Hillard Garrett, Emmie Lou and Glen David and Dianne and Kerry Cash, all of Mt. DiNARDO, Antonio Nicholas, 86, of Stanford died Saturday, July 29 at the Stanford Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Brooklyn, NY., he was born May 15, 1920 to the late Andrea and Concetta Fascia DiNardo. He was a taxi driver, a machinest, WWII Army veteran, and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses of the Stanford congregation in 1947. Born Aug. 11, 1936, in Sandhill, he was son of Gladys Hall Dixon of Dione and the late Rev. Jess W. Dixon. He was a retired coal miner, train engineer and heavy equipment operator. He had been a Pentecostal minister and he attended Totz Church of God. Other survivors include his wife, Norma Gladdish Dixon; six sons, Melvin Dixon and Jess Dixon, both of Dione, Michael Dixon of Lancaster, Jerry Dixon of Erlanger and Terry Dixon and Jeffery Dixon, both of Lexington; a daughter, Kathy Hughes of Cumberland; two brothers, Glalyn Dixon of Harrogate, Tenn., and Durand Dixon of Newcomb, Tenn.; two sisters, Aquilla S. Dixon, Steve, age 64, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.  Funeral services were held Thursday, May 12, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Dalton officiating.  Special music was provided by Daivd Dixon and by Brenda House.  He was laid to rest in the Roberts Cemetery at Parkers Lake, KY. Steve was born at Co-Operative, Kentucky, to the late Bill and Thursey Pitman Dixon.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three infant brothers. On November 24, 1998, Steve was united in marriage to Teresa Hardman Dixon who resides in Pine Knot.  His children are Steve Wendell (and Flora Rachel) Dixon of Strunk, William (Bill) (and Therese) Dixon of Pine Knot, Shannon (and Beth) Dixon also of Pine Knot, Deborah Buell (and Frank) of Harlan, Kentucky.  Teresa’s children are Chris Dixon of Indianapolis, Joshua Dixon of Indianapolis and Vincent (and Faith) Dixon of Pine Knot. There are 15 grandchildren altogether and 3 great-great grandchildren. Steve was a welder and boiler-maker for the Indianapolis Public Schools before retiring and moving back to McCreary County. DOBBS, Jewell, 89, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, February 12, 2005, after being hospitalized with a brief illness. Jewell was born in Bell Hill, Kentucky on January 11, 1916. She was the daughter of Rev. H. E. and Mertie “Coffey” Phipps. Jewell married Ross Dobbs on June 16, 1934. Ross and Jewell resided in the McCreary County, Kentucky area for the next 19 years where Ross was the pastor of various local churches. The family moved to Muncie in 1953. Ross and Jewell continued their church work in Muncie and eventually founded the Memorial United Baptist Church in 1959. After 38 years of being a preacher’s wife, Jewell became a widow in 1982. Her husband Ross, both parents, three brothers, a stepmother and three stepsisters, preceded Jewell in death. Jewell is survived by her four children; Vina Jean Gregory of Muncie, Rev. Carter Dobbs (wife - Carol) of Muncie, Jack Dobbs (wife - Linda) of Muncie and Sandra Lloyd of Corinth, TX.; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, three sisters, one brother, three step-sisters, three step-brothers and a multitude of nieces and nephews. DOBSA, Zoltan P., 79 of Cincinnati and Oroshaza, Hungary; beloved husband of 48 years to (late) Ida (nee Ujvary), passed March 25, 2005. He is survived by his brother Gyula (Julia) of Hungary; Dr. Imre Szendi-Horvath (Jennifer); Dora Mitro; and close famly friends Gertrude Jacob (late Carl); Karen Jacob (John); Philip and Gayley Hautzenroeder. He earned his degree in Agricultural Engineering in Budahpest, Hungary, prior to World War II, when he enlied in the Hungarian Army. Upon immigrating to the United ates in l950, with his wife, Ida, Brother-in-law, Charles Ujvary, and his Mother and Father-in-law, Karoly Ujvary, he received his Associates Degree from the University of Cincinnati while working full time. He retired after 30+ years at Proctor & Gamble. Zoltan had many hobbies including photography, water skiing, and horseback riding. He enjoyed raising Black Angus and farming on his farm outside of Vevay, Indiana, where he was a friend to many neighbors on Park Ridge. He was truly an outdoorsman hunter. He held the record for the large deer in Indiana until a year ago. Zoltan was surrounded by many friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 10, at 2 P.M., at the Hillside Chapel and Crematorium, 525 W. Martin Luther King Dr., Cincinnati. Friends may call from 2-3 P.M. Dobson, Ardith (Art); 83, of Dillsboro, died Friday, March 4, 2005 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born August 6, 1921 in Vest, KY the son of Pearson Dobson and Martha Ann Noble, both deceased. He married Alma Ritchie and she survives. Other survivors include three sons, Everett Ardell Dobson of Middletown, OH, Ronald Lane Dobson of Moores Hill, Forest Darrell Dobson of Aurora; two daughters, Barbara Cutter of Dillsboro, Lisa Johnson of Aurora; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Callaway, Shafter, Alonza, Malcolm, William, Sherman and Arvil Dobson and four sisters, Minta Disney, Virgie Russell, Lula Raft and Lucinda Bolen.Mr. Dobson retired from Texas Gas Transmission Corp. after 35 years. He was a lifetime member of the Northcutt Laaker American Legion Post #292 in Dillsboro and the VFW of Aurora. He also served in the Army from July 2, 1941 to October 7, 1945. On December 16, 1983, he was united in marriage to Laura Robinson Duncan in Norwood, Ohio.  Jesse and Laura have two daughters, Kristina Duncan of Cincinnati and Jessica Duncan of Pine Knot and one grandchild, Heaven Marie Lee Lawson, and a nephew Noah Duncan. Jesse was a fireplace technician for Installed Products and Services (ISP) in Cincinnati. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and spending time with his family. DUVALL, Earl H. Jr.-World War II veteran; GAINESVILLE - Earl H. Duvall Jr., 74, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at Lanier Park Hospital, Gainesville, following a sudden illness. A native of Towns County, Mr. Duvall was born October 10, 1926, to the late Harley and Ethal Waldroup Duvall. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, where he received many distinguished medals. Mr. Duvall retired from Colonial Foods (Big Star), with 36 years of service. He was also employed with Lanier Park Hospital, with more than 10 years of service. He was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Duvall was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Louise Reeves Duvall. Taylor, 77, Reading, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, October 6th, 2003 in Reading, Ohio.  She was born May 22nd, 1926 in Wayne County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Delbert Taylor and Carrie Hammond Taylor.  She is survived by her husband of 57 years; Lloyd S. Dykes: one son; Bill (and Janet) Dykes, Cincinnati, Ohio: one daughter; Susan (and David) Montoya, Plano, Texas: 2 brothers; Harold Taylor, Amherst, Ohio and Leonard Taylor, Burnside, Kentucky: 4 sister; Jeanie Taylor, Della Dodson and Anna McKee, all of Somerset Kentucky and Laurie Tucker, Bronston, Kentucky: three grandchildren; Heather Dykes, Charleston, South Carolina, Benjamin and Bethany Dykes and Jennifer (and Edwin) Loayza. She was preceded in death by her parents: 3 brothers; Forest Taylor, Fred Taylor and Royce Taylor: two sisters; Mildred Taylor and Ruby Taylor.  Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, October 11th, 2003 at the Chapel of Schmidt-Dhonau Funeral Home, Reading, Ohio with Brother Allen Dodson officiating burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. Rupert visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 10th, 2003 at the Schmidt-Dhonau Funeral Home.
