EARHART, Edward Dale; OH; 1999, December 2; Cinti Enq – husband of JoAnne Earhart (nee Priefer); father of Mandy Jamison and John Earhart; grandfather of Robert Earhart, and Amber and Amanda Tomilinson; son of Julia and the late William Earhart; brother of the late William Clifford Earhart. Edward, a resident of Amelia and retiree of Senco, died December 1, 1999 at age 62. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-6 PM at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St., Amelia. EARLY, Ruby Bunch, age 74, of Corbin, KY passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center.She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; Booz and Rachel Bunch and her husband; Herbert Early.She is survived by a daughter; Anna McHargue of Corbin, KY, (2) grandchildren; Jennifer Knuckles and husband, Trent of Corbin, KY, Jeff McHargue and wife, Jodie of Corbin, KY, (1) great granddaughter; Mary Elizabeth McHargue, (2) step-great grandsons; Alonzo Dewey Nelson and David Nathaniel Nelson, all of Corbin, KY, (1) brother; Brent Bunch, Florence, KY, several nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 11, 2005 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Corinth Cemetery. Pallbearers were family and friends. EASON, Harry O., 83, of Lebanon Road, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born March 9, 1921, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Harry and Lillie Baker Eason. He was an Army veteran of WWII, retired from Womwell Auto Parts and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Stella Baker Eason; a daughter, Betty Jo Benedict of Johnson City, Tenn.; a grandson; and a great granddaughter. EAST, Frank, age 81, of Monticello, Ky. passed away Thursday, February 3, 2005 at his home. He was born January 10, 1924 in the Betsey community of Wayne Co., Ky., the son of the late Andrew Tilden East and Kitty Evy Sloan East. He married Gladine Rose on November 22, 1947, who survives. He is also survived by one daughter-Kitty Cooper of Monticello, Ky.; two sisters-Stella Lois East of Somerset, Ky. and Linnie Munsey of Monticello, Ky.; and one grandchild. Preceding him in death was one child-Teddy Gene East; three brothers-Willie East, Charlie East and James East; three sisters-Lillie Ballou, Lucy East and Evy Hurt. He was a member of the Meadow Creek Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 6, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. EASTHAM, Sarah Ethel Pitman, 93, West Drive, Biloxi, Mississippi, daughter of Daniel Gaither Pitman and Annie Bell York Pitman, formerly of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 11th, 2005 in Mississippi. She was born January 1st, 1913 in Poynter, Kentucky. She was a homemaker. She resided on the coast since 1991. She was a member of Friends of the Library in Biloxi. Mississippi, Wichita, Kansas and Somerset, member of Goodwill Homemaker Club of Somerset, Member of Rebecca Lodge #126 in Somerset, member of AARP and Senior Citizens Group. She attended Sardis Christian Church and was a member of Mintonville Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters; Eunice Conley, Biloxi, Mississippi and Clarice Ruby Williams, Wichita, Kansas: two sisters; Velma Sweet, Cincinnati, Ohio and Winnie Dick, Science Hill, Kentucky: 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Eaton, Leemon, Sr., 88, Grundy Road, Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 24th, 2004 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset, Kentucky. He was born February 27th, 1916 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, a son of the late John Eaton and Cora Sowders Eaton. He was a Farmer, Trustee, Training Director, Sunday school teacher and member of the Rock Lick Baptist Church. He was an Executive Board Member for the Pulaski Southern Baptist Association. He is survived by his wife; Lucille Eaton, whom he married on May 5th, 1951: one son; Leemon (and Janet) Eaton, Jr., Somerset, Kentucky: three granddaughters; Myra Eaton Lewis, Krystal Eaton and Mary Elizabeth Eaton: 4 step-grandchildren; Ken, Julie, Donny and Jennifer: 3 step-grandchildren; Andrea, Jacob and Aylissa: one niece; Pauline Hurst: one nephew; Willard Eaton. Edwards, Florence H. -CRAB ORCHARD - Florence Ethel Hicks Edwards, 88, of Crab Orchard, died Tuesday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Born Dec. 10, 1915, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Lucy E. Lafevers Butt. She was the widow of Frank Edwards. She was a former Sunday school teacher and Berean Bible Class member at Watts Chapel Baptist Church, where she had been a member since 1951. Survivors include a son, Robert L. Edwards of Stanford; three sisters, Mildred Cupp of Indiana, Birdie Miller of East Bernstadt and Goldie Hicks of Hamilton, Ohio; two brothers, Cleo Hicks of Michigan and Thomas Butt of Crab Orchard; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Born Feb. 21, 1928, in Fayette County, she was a daughter of the late A.T. Barnette and Love Chapman Garner Abraham and the adopted daughter of the late Lorenzo "Tubby" Garner. EDWARDS, Gordon Mason, 69, Walnut Street, Cincinnati, formerly of the Mt. Victory community, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. He was born in Somerset Dec. 2, 1934, son of the late Mary Elizabeth Edwards. He was a retired data processor for Proctor and Gamble Corporation and was a member of Mt. Victory Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Koenig Edwards; a son, Brian Edwards, Cincinnati; a daughter, Mary Ann (and Bobby) Curtis, Indiana; a brother, Oakla “Bub” Edwards, of the Mt. Victory community; two grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Curtis; and a special cousin, Theresa Morgan. He was preceded in death by his mother. EDWARDS, James Ira, age 71 years, Whitley City, Kentucky died February 1, 2005. Funeral services were held Friday, February 4, 2005 at McCreary County Funeral home with Bro. Mark Sewell and Bro. Mike Casada officiating. Burial was in Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery. He was born January 31, 1934 at Somerset, Kentucky the son of the late Ira S. and Bertha Cathryn Baker Edwards. He was a heavy equipment operator and member of Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church. His parents and the following brother and sisters precede him in death: Dewey Edwards; Pearl Lee Murphy; Betty Jean Edwards and Marge Sams. Darrin Leroy Hill is the deceased stepson. EDWARDS, Jessie Jeffries, 66, of Forks Church Road in Lancaster, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at her residence. Born January 5, 1941 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Howard Jeffries and Martha Ellis Jeffries of Hustonville. She was a faithful member of the Forks of Dix River Baptist Church, a member of the Sunshine Group at her church, and an employee of the Nicholasville Wal-Mart. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Edwards, her father, Howard Jeffries, and a sister, Geneva Pinson. In addition to her mother, survivors include a son, Mark Edwards of Lancaster; four brothers, Pete (Judy) Jeffries of Lancaster, Bud (Lois) Jeffries of Danville, Lowell Jeffries of Centralia, Illinois, and Donnie (Annette) Jeffries of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one sister, Henrietta (Joe) Burch of Montague, California; and several nieces and nephews. Services were June 13 at Ramsey Funeral Home by Rev. Jerry Browning. Burial was in Hustonville Cemetery. She was born May 25th, 1919 in the Naomi Community of Pulaski County, Kentucky. She was a retired seamstress for the former Palm Beach Clothing Company, a member of Senior Friends and a member of High Street Baptist Church, Somerset, Kentucky. She is survived by one daughter; Helen Lee (and Richard) Phelps, Morgantown, Kentucky: one stepson; Richard Bryan (and Paula) Edwards, Nancy, Kentucky: one stepdaughter; Anne Marie Edwards, Bronston, Kentucky: one brother; Linden (and Zelma) Taylor, Naomi Community: 3 grandchildren; Ricky Phelps, Suzanne Phelps and Rebecca Phelps: one step grandchild; Bryan C. ELDRIDGE, Hubert G.- CATLETT, Va. - Hubert Gene Eldridge, 80, of Catlett Va., died July 2 in Catlett. A native of Letcher County, she was born March 12, 1910 to George Fields and Rebexie Caudill. She was a homemaker and a member of Dixon Memorial Old Regular Baptist Church. He was born January 24th, 1931 in Ansel, Kentucky. ELMORE, McKenzie Ryan of Kings Mountain died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008. He was 31.
Born on June 4, 1977 in Waynesburg, he was a son of Gerald Brent and Barbara Dearth Elmore of Kings Mountain.
He was a professional truck driver with Western Express in Nashville, Tenn. Besides his parents, survivors include a son, Levi Brendon Elmore of Danville; a brother, Kelleyn (and Rosemary) Elmore of Kings Mountain; maternal grandparents, James and Betty Dearth of St. Mary’s W.V.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.

The Kentucky State Police detective investigating the stabbing death of a Casey County man in Waynesburg Saturday night said “there is an element of self-defense” in the case of a deadly altercation resulting from “dueling stereos.”
McKenzie Ryan Elmore, 31, was stabbed to death and his friend, Jack Smith, was also stabbed and critically injured. He was transported to the UK Medical Center in Lexington, where he was listed in fair condition Tuesday morning.
The “element of self-defense” has to do with a second weapon found at the scene and a defensive wound on the hand of the alleged assailant, James Naylor, according to KSP Detective Bill Collins.
KSP Public Information Officer, Chris Lanham, said either Elmore or Smith was armed with a knife. “He was outnumbered two-to-one and feared for his life,” Lanham said of Naylor.
Misty Hatter, Elmore's fiancee, said they were visiting with Jack Smith in his duplex apartment on Ky. 1247 in Waynesburg when Smith's neighbor on the other side of the duplex, James Naylor, began playing his music loudly. Smith then turned up the volume on his music. Naylor went outside in the small front yard he shared with Smith and began to shout at Smith, who was still inside, Hatter said. Hatter, who followed Smith and Elmore outside to confront Naylor, said an unidentified woman jumped on her back and the two began fighting. “By God's grace I was able to get her off my back and that's when I saw Ryan lying on the steps,” she said.
Reentering the house to call for help, a Lincoln County E-911 operator told Hatter to give Elmore mouth-to-mouth resuscitation until EMS personnel arrived. By the time she got back to Elmore, he was already dead, she said. “He was stabbed in the heart and the back,” Hatter said. Smith was stabbed in the chest and there was blood all over the front of his shirt, she said. However, Collins disputes Hatter's account of what happened that night. “I can tell you the information she's giving now is not the information she gave me on the night of the incident,” he said on Thursday.
Collins said he couldn't give out further information about the differing accounts of what happened because the case has been turned over to the Lincoln County grand jury and scheduled for presentation in early November.
Collins said that Smith and Naylor had had several run-ins over the playing of loud music the past three weeks.
“There's evidence that both sides were taunting each other,” Collins said.
Collins also said “a strong odor of alcohol was present at the scene,” and there was the possibility that more than alcohol was involved.
Hatter said she saw Naylor pack two cases of beer into his apartment Saturday afternoon and she added that Elmore and Smith were sharing a half-pint of vodka.
Several tests have been sent to the state crime lab for analysis, Collins said.
Elmore and Hatter lived with her mother on Hurricane Ridge in eastern Casey County, she said. They had been together for a year and became engaged to be married two months ago.
Elmore was a truck driver for Western Express in Nashville and Hatter often accompanied him on road trips, she said. Casey co. paper
