GATOR GROUPS

 

The team is divided into 3 different ability groups.  Ability grouping provides more efficient practice sessions for the swimmers.  Changes in a swimmer’s group assignment may occur throughout the season as swimmers progress at their individual pace.  The various Gator groups are described below:

 

 

 

 

 

Gold

 

13 and over swimmers that are ready to take on serious swim training.  Swimmers MUST set goals and be concentrated on them. Most swimmers in this group are REQUIRED to attend all practices, morning and evening, unless notified.  All competitors must be able to swim all four strokes, I.M, and are able to compete in endurance events.  Goals of this group include National cuts and qualifying for state if in high school.  Weight training and dry land will also be part of the program

 

 

 

Silver

 

Ages of 10 – 15 year old swimmers who have been introduced to all four strokes but have not been refined in technique, endurance and speed.  Swimmers are recommended to come to at least four per week.   Dryland will be offered, weight training offered if of age.

 

 

 

 

Bronze

 

Ages of 7- 10 years old swimmers who can swim freestyle and have been introduced to backstroke.  Breastroke and butterfly will be taught.  Introduction to starts and flip turns.  Fundamentals of swimming are emphasized. Recommend swimming three - four times per week.
