Practice Requirements:

During the summer season Coaches understand families are juggling numerous commitments and the attendance at all offered meets and practices is not always possible.  This is o.k. but we ask that you just stay in contact with the coaches and keep us informed.  Coaches would like the Gold group swimmers to strive to attend no less than 4-5 practices per week (out of 6 offered).  Practices include dry-land and weights after pool time.  The dry-land activities are just as important as the water practices and are specifically designed to prevent injury as well as build core body strength.  Please notify coaches of absences prior to practices by e-mail or phone (mailto:jrjanszen@yahoo.com, 661-1105).  Attendance will be taken at each practice and meet lineups and relays will be determined not only by speed but by attendance. and participation.

Meet Requirements:

Those swimmers who swam for the Y during the Winter season are required, by league rules, to swim in at least 2 meets to be eligible to swim in Championships.  Those who did not swim for the YMCA in the winter are required to swim in at least 3 events to be eligible for Championships.  To count as a meet a swimmer must swim and complete, without disqualification, one event at a sanctioned competition (any GNY offered meet)>  During multi-day meets, swimming in one day of competition counts as a meet but swimming in all 2 or 3 days of offered competition of the same meet does not count as more that 1 meet.

There will be a signup sheet prior to each meet posted on the bulletin board.  Swimmers/Parents must place a check in the box next to the name if they WILL swim.  If there is no check in the box the swimmer will not be entered in the meet.

Championships is a required meet, for those who qualify, and there will be no signup sheet.  All qualifying swimmers will be automatically entered unless coaches are notified prior to the meet that there is an extreme conflict.

Volunteering:

In order to have a successful program, to keep things running smoothly, and to keep fees down we need each family to volunteer to help with various Team Fundraisers and events.  This summer's big fundraiser is our GNY Summer Invitational June 11-12th.  A signup sheet has been posted for worker positions.  Please signup at your earliest convenience to help out.  High School swimmers are mort than welcome to signup to help on Saturday since they do not swim until Sunday.

We will also have a dual meet to host against ME Lyons YMCA on June 22nd that will require volunteers to time and participate.  The meet will last for a few hours.

For Championships at Miami University, the League will assign worker positions to the team that need to be filled in order for the team to participate in the meet.  A signup sheet will be posted as soon as this information becomes available.

Forms and Payment:

Any NEW swimmer needs to make sure they have turned in their registration forms and Emergency Medical Forms along with the $150.00 Summer Fee.  Make checks payable to GNY swim team.

Equipment:

Gold Group members need to have their own pull-buoy, paddles (recommended- Stroke maker) and fins.
