BIBLICAL PARALLELS - PART 1
The Beginning
OLD TESTAMENT -  GENESIS
In the beginning GOD created the Heaven
and the Earth.  And the Earth was without form,
and void; and darkness was upon the face of the
deep.  And GOD said, let there be light; and
there was light. And GOD called the light DAY
and the darkness he called NIGHT.  And the
evening and the morning were the FIRST DAY.
And GOD made the firmament and divided the
waters which were under the firmament from
the waters which were above the firmament:
and it was so.  And GOD called the firmament
Heaven.
And the evening  and the morning were
the SECOND DAY.

And GOD called the dry land Earth; and the
gathering together of the waters called he Seas.
And GOD said:  Let the Earth bring forth grass,
the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding
fruit after his kind.  And the evening and the
morning were the THIRD DAY.
And GOD made two great lights; the greater
light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule
the night:  he made the Stars also.  And the
evening and the morning were the FOURTH DAY.
And GOD created great whales, and every living
creature that moveth.  And the evening and the
morning were the FIFTH DAY.
So GOD created Man in his own image, in the
image of GOD created he him; male and female
created he them.  And the evening and the morning
were the SIXTH DAY.

Thus the Heavens and the Earth were finished,
and all  of the host of them.  And on the SEVENTH
DAY GOD
ended work which he had made and he
rested.

The Beginning
NEW TESTAMENT - LUKE
And Joseph also went up from Galilee,
out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea,
unto the city of David, which is called
Bethlehem.  To be taxed with Mary his
espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were
there, the days were accomplished that
she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son,
and wrapped him in swaddling clothes,
and laid him in a manger, because there
was no room for them in the Inn.
And there were in the same country
Shepherds abiding in the field, keeping
watch over their flocks by night.  And lo
an ANGEL of the LORD came upon
them, and the GLORY of the LORD
shone round about them: and they
were sore afraid.
And the ANGEL said unto them:  "Fear
not:  for, behold, I bring you good tidings
of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the City
of David, a SAVIOUR, which is CHRIST
THE LORD
.  And this shall be a sign
unto you.  Ye shall find the babe wrapped
in swaddling clothes, lying a manger."
