GOD'S PLAN
I believe that GOD
has a plan for every human regardless of who they are or what their
status in life. The problem is that we as individuals don't
normally ask ourselves what his plan is for each of us. The
reason for this is that we are by nature centrist (self centered) and
think in terms of I, me or my. The truth is that we should be thinking in terms of You, Him or Them.
Christians believe that there is a GOD in Heaven whose son (CHRIST) died on the cross for mans sins. Those who believe in CHRIST and ask him to forgive their sins will be forgiven. However, this does not answer the age old question by Christians: "Why am I here - What is my purpose?"
- That brings me to the question which should be: "What is his plan for me?" My explanation follows:
In
1997 (at age 63) I had open heart surgery and did not realize how close
to death I had been until told by the Cardiologist and had seen the
hospital records. During my recovery period I had time to
think about this. Two things came out of those thoughts:
- First was that GOD had extended my life span here on earth. There is a hereafter!!
- Second was that he had something for me to accomplish before I die.
I
believed that through pray he would show me what his plans for me were.
I confess that there were times when I was filled with doubts.
It wasn't until about a year ago that I realized he wanted me to
tell people about the wonderful things he has done and is doing.
The first question, for myself, was how to accomplish this.
Sooner or later I usually come up with an answer and it was to
write about the things GOD does
for each of us. Next question what do I write about? The
answer was things I've seen, experienced, or thought about over these
72 years. So I wrote a paper entitled "Who Am I - Who are
You". (See Jakes View Points.) I sent it as an attachment
to my
E-Mail addressees.
I found out later that no one could access the attachment. The thought occurred to me that maybe GOD
was testing me to see if I would follow up. I sent it again and
made sure that the people I had sent it to plus a few others got
copies. Then it was sent to a newspaper and three magazines only
one of which acknowledged receipt of it. Next step a web site: (home.fuse.net/jakesviewpoints)
Now we get to the I, Me or My Part!
I began to wonder if I was going to accomplish anything.
This was very depressing. I discussed this with my
Minister. He pointed out that if it is GOD'S
plan for me that it would be done during the time set by him.
Also, that I might never see any results of what was being done.
That's when it became evident that what needed to be done was to
let him always be first. Having recognized my own problem means for me
to change. Bottom line is to let GOD and CHRIST be the center of everything and not myself! We do that when we care about each other and forget about I, Me or My.
