Adultery is defined in the dictionary as:
“Voluntary sexual intercourse between a MARRIED man and a woman
not his wife, or between a MARRIED woman and a man not her
husband. Over the last 50 years sexual promiscuity
has grown by leaps and bounds. It has gotten to the point
that people just ignore it with a so it’s none of my concern or
their consenting adults. Neither of which is
right! These short term sexual adventures can turn into
nightmares. The results of this are a sky rocketing divorce
rate and homes divided which affects many children. Children see
this going on and assume that it is ok for them to do likewise later on
in life. It creates bitterness in families and broken
homes. Satan loves adversity and destructive
works. So the next time you are considering one of these
encounters stop and ask yourself who will be hurt by it and is it worth
the involvement. Idol worship is extremely high on the things we do that are wrong with our world today. People of Ancient times worshiped idols of metal and stone. We all know that they are just hunks of nothing. You say you don’t have any idols, well let’s take a look at that! You must understand that each person is an individual and everything does not apply across the board. However, if you look at these items and think back you will find that some apply to you. (1) One of our worst faults is MONEY. It seems our primary goal is to acquire wealth far beyond what our daily needs might be. This is called greed which drives us to cheat, steal and lie to achieve our goals. Look at your newspaper and see how many people today are alleged to have cheated people out of their life savings. This is stealing. Ask yourself “have I ever stolen anything”? If you have taken some thing (even a pencil) that belongs to some one else that is stolen property. The size of the act is not what is judged. Then when some one gets caught they deny it and this is lying. Money is a necessity for us to survive and there is nothing wrong with any that is honestly earned. Always remember that GOD is entitled to a share to provide for his kingdom. We must not forget those who are less fortunate than we are and have similar needs. (2) There are metal objects (cars, airplanes, boats, etc.) that we tend to idolize. Human nature makes us proud of that new car or some other item and the tendency is to show them off to a neighbor, friend, etc. The same thing happens with new houses, furniture, etc. anything that will make someone envious. This is not to say that we shouldn’t have these things if we work and earn them. The point is to remember that there are many people in this world who will never have these things, so we shouldn’t try to pretend to be better than anyone else. For in the eyes of the one that counts we are all equal in the things that really are important. Just keep in mind that these things only exist for a very short time. Usually not long enough to pay for them. (3) Then there are people we tend to idolize. They consist of Sports figures, Movie stars, Musical celebrities, and others. The only difference between you and them is that they are in the limelight and tend to make large sums of money. They are flesh and blood (human) the same as the poorest person you will ever see. Just ask yourself what does one of these have that makes them better than you? Nothing wrong with going to see these persons perform. It can be a very enjoyable time. Just remember that it’s only for your entertainment, nothing more. I’m sure they work just as hard at what they do as anyone else. They enjoy a better life style then most of us but never forget that does not make them any better than you so don’t put them on a pedestal as idols. NOTE: There are many people in this world we call heroes. A hero is one who performs an unselfish act in the service of others and deserves special recognition. They are not idols. |
