Dear Editor:
Jeff Jacoby
submitted a thought provoking peace "A non-traditional family (Heather has
five mommies)" (May 31, 2001). He stated that "No one who supports
same sex marriage can logically oppose the legalization of polygamy." I
agree. But Mr. Jacoby could have gone much further with his analysis.
Since many
liberals believe that same sex marriage is okay. They must certainly believe
that polygamy is also acceptable as Mr. Jacoby asserts. Staying with this same
logic, would it not be okay for people to marry their siblings and/or children?
What about marrying the family pet?
If society is
going to debate same sex marriage, we must also contemplate polygamy, incest,
and bestiality. These are simply different levels of depravity of the same
debate.
