   Morgan Township was settled in 1802 by Welsh immigrants from Llanbrynmair, Montgomeryshire, Wales. The township was named after General Daniel Morgan for his victories in the American Revolutionary War; he too was a Welsh descendant from the colony of Virginia.

   The Paddy's Run Old Welsh Cemetery in Morgan Township was established in 1821 by the congregation of the White Water Congregational Church. This church is now holding services under the name of The Shandon Congregational Church of Shandon, Ohio.

   In later years German immigrants settled in the valley and were buried in the Paddy's Run Cemetery among the original Welsh settlers.

   The cemetery, adjacent to the old church (now called the Community House), is now being properly restored and nicely maintained by the Morgan Township Trustees who place American flags on the graves of ten war veterans each year. A study of the Old Welsh Cemetery, made for this documentation, identified a total of 315 grave sites.

   Some original Welsh settlers are also buried in the New London Cemetery on Alert-New London Road in Morgan Township. These names will be included in this listing at a future date.
