|
| In
keeping with the Rotroff tradition, Event began right on time (immediately
following Clermont County Fair's Military program ) and heats moved right
along without |
| long
delays in between - unlike derbies staged by other promoters, and without
those annoying, slow-moving lawn mowers that others shove down our throats! |
| As
always, Cavalcade of Thrills exhibited professionalism and organization.
Announcer is informative, and enjoyable to listen to as he calls all the
action, which is also |
| in
contrast to all the other "wanna be's." Their derbies are a pleasure
to watch, and they're so much better prepared to conduct the shows
than any of their competitors. |
| Track
was wet from the day's rains, but still showcased aggressive hitting, and
event concluded in plenty of time for patrons to enjoy and support the
rest of The Fair. |

| Rotroff
and Clermont County do EVERYTHING right. The wet track was dug out
to insure a fast surface, and hard hitting derbies, and nothing blocked
anyone's view. |
| Derbies
began PROMPTLY as scheduled, and were completed in plenty of time to get
the crowd out to the Midway to support The Fair and it's venders.
Heats were hard |
| hitting
and officials permitted NO "sandbagging." This is annually one of
the best derbies around; you're just never quite ready for the action to
come to an end. |

|
| Tuesday
witnessed perhaps the weakest Rotroff event of all time. Even
so, they announced the duration of the Figure-8 events rather than wait
for one of their buddy's to take the |
| lead
and then call it quits as is regularly the case elsewhere.
Forecast for rain certainly contributed to the short fields, and derbies
were compromised by vehicles getting torn |
| up
in Figure-8 races that were necessitated to fill the evening's grandstand
entertainment. To their credit, they certainly rebounded with quality
shows Thurs. and Saturday. |
