| Event
was about 40 minutes LATE getting underway and hitting lead-off was a useless
race between only 3 mowers, then a mower derby. If they have to have
them at all, |
| mowers
would be best utilized filling dead time between consolation and feature
events, not as stall tactics on an already behind-schedule show.
Those that paid extra to |
| sit
on the pit side of the arena had their Figure-8 view obstructed by several
"judges" positioned directly at the cross-over counting cars! In addition,
races were conducted |
| for
an unspecified number of laps or time limit (no announcement was
made to the fans). Thus, heats appeared to conclude at random.
4-car Couples/Powder Puff derby |
| was
a waste as always (no hitting), as was the 4 vehicle mini-derby.
The big car FEATURE was good, but not worth waiting 3 hours to see.
And by the time it concluded, |
| the
Fair was closing up for the night which certainly didn't help the venders
in the least. A much more Fair-friendly relationship could be established
by starting on time, |
| thus
completing grandstand competition and activities at an earlier hour in
order to provide folks an opportunity to enjoy and support the rest of
what the Fair has to offer. |
