|
| RULES: The format
has been expanded this year with the introduction of three new races.
As such, the contest has been adjusted in order to accomodate the additional
competitions. The object of the game is the same- |
| correctly select the
top finishers in all eleven BREEDERS’ CUP divisions. Participants
are permitted to select two horses in each race. In nine of the divisions
- FILLY & MARE SPRINT, JUVENILE TURF, DIRT MILE, |
| JUVENILE FILLIES, JUVENILE,
FILLY & MARE TURF, SPRINT, MILE and DISTAFF, five points are earned
for choosing the race winner, three points for picking the runner-up, and
one point for the show spot. Payoffs |
| increase by one point
in the BREEDERS’ CUP TURF with first place being worth six points, four
for second, two for third, and one point for finishing fourth. Points
increase again in the BREEDERS’ CUP CLASSIC with |
| seven points awardedfor
selecting the winner, five points for the place spot, three for third,
two for fourth, and one point for a fifth place finish. Any horse
finishing worse than the above mentioned positions receives zero points. |
| There are also two bonus
questions (best bet and longshot) each worth three extra points.
NOTE: A horse must race at odds of 7 to 1 or greater to qualify as
a longshot. Morning line favorites appear in blue. |
| . |
| PENALTY:
Morning Line race favorites receive only one-half (1/2) credit! Penalty
applies to all selections including the “best bet.” EXAMPLE:
TURF favorite finishes second. Normally, a second place finish in
this |
| division would be rewarded
with four points. However, if you chose this horse as one of your
two selections for the TURF, you would receive only two points because
the horse raced as the favorite. This penalty is intended |
| to discourage the selection
of favorites so that everybody doesn’t end up with the same horses, and
to reward a player’s handicapping skills for selecting a “longshot” as
opposed to a “walkover.” Steward’s decision is final. |
