Elaine (Julie Hagerty), who used to be a flight attendant on the original flight of Airplane, has now become the computer officer for the space ship Mayflower One. She is no longer with Ted Striker (Robert Hays) who heroically rescued the original Airplane, but is now engaged to Simon Kurtz (Chad Everett). When things go wrong with the computer on the Mayflower and it sets a course straight to the sun, Striker is needed again. This time he has escaped from an insane asylum to board the shuttle, when no amount of effort on the part of the crew is able to salvage the situation it is back to Striker and Elaine, along with air traffic controller Steven McCroskey (Lloyd Bridges) working together to save the ship to comic effect. Several great cameos in this movie include: William Shatner, Sonny Bono, Rip Torn and Raymond Burr.
